The opening of the Great Barn - a momentous event

My first day coincided with the opening of the Great Barn, little did I know about the immensity of the project. Stepping into the barn for the first time I was in awe. I have never seen anything restored like this at such a grand scale and I'm sure there is not many like it. What is it about wood & old timber beams that makes you feel like you can soak in something so much deeper than modern materials and buildings.

Fergus, the Heritage Lottery Fund who helped fund the project & Geoffrey Dyer - Chairman of the Great Dixter Charitable Trust gave speeches.

I'm not sure how long this will remain available but here is also a link to news of the event from the BBC - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-19463935
