Viburnum opulus 'Compactum' (aka the Guelder Rose) - there is a strangeness to berries that look so tempting but are not edible, but at Dixter whether plants produce flowers, berries or vegetables, in seed, live or dead they seem to be given an equal status and treated on their individual merit and what they are able to offer. According to Plants For A Future these berries are not entirely inedible and has been used as a substitute for things like cranberry jelly but they are slightly toxic and in large quantities can cause vomiting.
